Isn’t just the name of Buttered sausage provoking all your taste senses and throwing you into an illusion of you having this with a chilled, cold drink? But let’s take a step back and think about this dish a little bit and understand where this came from and how it’s related to the meme world.

Buttered sausage is a dish that is sauteed in a fine amount of butter to give it a creamy and more flavourful taste.

The butter adds richness and helps the sausage to get perfectly cooked and infuse the meat with dairy-like notes. But that’s not the reason it’s most famous for, there is something more that goes deeper into the meme culture.

And to deeply understand Buttered sausage and its popularization, we need to go deeper into its core and understand the origin and meme culture behind this dish. We will also go further and examine some other combinations of it.

    Buttered Sausage Origin

So the thing is, the name “Buttered Sausage” doesn’t come from a viral recipe on the internet but as a meme. And that’s the reason why many people are finding it very confusing at first when they are searching for this dish.

The phrase gained attention from the surreal comedy sketch associated with the show “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!”.

In one of the scenes, the term “Buttered sausage” is repeated in a random or you can say, in a very nonsensical way by the actor Gary Busey. And that’s the origin of the Buttered sausage meme and this dish.

There is no deep meaning behind it; in the show it’s just used for a comedic purpose or more like an absurd humor that is transferred to the online community.

The shift from the meme to the food is very comical or we can say a very innovative way of making a meme into something realistic.

And then suddenly, the whole world got curious about this and now it’s a dish that everyone loves. A meme that is eventually turned into something that people can actually cook and search for.

Step-by-Step Recipe to Make Buttered Sausage

Now comes the dish which you are searching for and finding ways to make it in different ways and giving it your own authentic taste.

This is the section where you can get the realistic ideas of this dish and how we can make this dish at home with some basic ingredients.

    Ingredients preparation

In the first step of the Buttered Sausage recipe, we will discuss the ingredients that are the soul of this food.

    Ingredients:

    • 2-3 Pink sausages (pork, chicken or any vegan option like Tofu for this dish).
    • Butter (1 stick).
    • Garlic (2 to 3 minced cloves),
    • Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary),
    • Black pepper or chili flakes and Lemon juice (a few drops)

    Process of Making

Before making the dish, you can do the prep work like take sausages out of the fridge 5 to 10 minutes before cooking. Pat them dry with a paper towel, as it helps in browning. If sausages are thick, lightly score them, ie, make small cuts, so they cook evenly.

    After this:

    • Heat the pan and turn the gas to medium flame and let it warm up for about 1 to 2 minutes.
    • Add the butter to the pan and let it melt slowly and yes don’t try to rush it and wait until it turns a little brown.
    • Add the sausages to the pan and make sure not to overcrowd it or they will not properly cook. The thigh is you can chop them or just leave them as they are; the decision is up to you.
    • Cook them evenly until they look golden brown color and slightly crispiness outside and fully cooked inside.
    • The last but for me the most important one, adds flavour to it through the garlic and the herbs. Just a teaspoon will be enough for a single person. This step creates a fresh and rich in flour butter coated sausages for you.

    Pro tips

The only thing I will suggest to you in the pro tip is to control the heat of the pan. A food cooked on a low heat that takes a little bit more time is better than a burnt one. A high heat burns the butter and can quickly ruin the flavor of the dish.

A heavy pan or cast-iron pan is better to work with than a normal one because it can spread the heat evenly and gives better browning of the food. Whether you prefer some spices or not but garlic, chilli flakes and honey can add thousands of tastes to the food.

Taste and Texture of Buttered Sausage

After finishing our cooking, here comes the tasting part to see that the dish is not far from being called impeccable. The melted butter coats the sausage to add a smooth and a bit of creamy taste that enhances every bite you take.

So when you taste the outer layer of it, you can feel the crispy taste that has a little crunch to it. While on the inside, you can feel the soft and juicy sausage with that buttery taste that melts in your mouth.

While this is the most basic taste of Buttered Sausage, you can try some other flavours of it. Which includes garlic butter sausage, Spicy buttered sausage, Herb butter sausage and honey butter sausage.

And if you are someone who prefers vegan things, then I guess a vegan buttered sausage would be a better choice for you. Which might be less juicy for you but still can offer you the taste of vegan.

Is Buttered Sausage a healthy option for us?

When it comes to the nutrition of this, we can’t say that buttered sausage is the best choice for breakfast. It might be an alternative to the protein or essential carbs but its high fat content can make it high-calorie which can lead to sugar and glucose spikes in the morning.

And on top of that, buttered sausage might not be an ideal dish from a daily consumption point of view, where extra fat intake can lead to an increase in body weight. So people with heart conditions, managing cholesterol levels or anyone on a low-fat or low-sodium diet can avoid this.

But rather than not eating it, you can make it healthier and add good calories to it without it being oily. So instead of using butter, you can either reduce it or go for things like olive oil to throw those extra calories off the plate. You can also add grilled vegetables to make it a balanced nutritional diet.

    Conclusion

The discussion related to the topic Buttered sausage takes us to its many versions, origin and the whole buttered sausage Gary Busey scene. You can even find the buttered sausage gif and videos on the internet. This might be the perfect example of how a thing can get famous for many other reasons.

From a food perspective, this dish really stands out the most because of the crispy buttery taste with a soft and chewy inside that just feels very rich in taste.

You can even have these different flavors and tastes like the garlic buttered sausage, spicy one or even the honey one.

In the end it’s a dish that can make you addicted to its flavours and taste and make you crave it every time. So whether you are searching for it as a dish or a meme, Buttered sausage will definitely manage to hold your interest till the end.

Yes, it is a dish that is made with butter and sausages which gives it a buttery and juicy taste. But its origin is related to a meme that is very famous among the public, used by a famous actor named Gary Busey.

What was Gary Busey talking about buttered sausage?

Gary Busey wasn’t actually talking about the buttered sausage in any real or meaningful way. It was just chaotic humour that was passed down to the public and now they are running with it. The phrase is linked to the absurd comedy and show called “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!.
